Another good way is to Download Picasa 3 from Google. With it you can select a bunch of pictures and it'll resize and fit them for you and you can save the modified image as w.e you need it to be. If all of the images are squares of the same size, they'll instantly lock together in a nice grid.

A quick and easy way to make a collage is to resize all the images you want to appear in the collage to the same size ( example: if they are square you could resize them to 200px by 200px) now create a blank canvas and copy and paste the images to it side by side or however you want.
